The House That Stax Built: Luxury Plymouth self build packed with eclectic style

In a new series of blog posts, we're going behind the scenes and having a good old nose at some truly awesome homes owned by Stax clients. Each home featured contains items purchased from us, creatively displayed with an eye for the quirky.

CUSTOMER STYLE: WARM INDUSTRIAL/ ECLECTIC MODERN

Our first house nose is just across the Tamar in Plymouth.  This home was built from scratch by the owner - not only furnished, but using materials sourced from Stax too.

A modern town house, this luxe home is flooded with natural light, and has high ceilings, an industrial style kitchen and warm reclaimed wood floors.

A great balance between vintage and salvaged pieces and new, this house is effortlessly styled.

Lets take a look at some key pieces…

Garden - To the rear and side of the plot is the patio and landscaped garden – the slabs, sleeper retaining wall, containers, and deco were purchased from Stax.

Guest room - the bed and cabinets were sourced by Stax and painted in Annie Sloan French Linen by the client. Check out those bling knobs - they bring a real quirkiness to an otherwise traditional room setting.

Eating area – this dining room has been furnish nearly entirely from Stax sourced items.

The picture above the sideboard was framed by local picture framers Caffe Gallerie in Plymouth.

The rustic sideboard houses the customer's vinyl collection. The bench was sourced from France and is a statement piece in itself. Just a quick sandblast was all that was needed to bring up the wonderful patina.

Decorative items - this Stax customer has a keen eye for detail and effortlessly mixes quirky retro pieces with modern flourishes.

Lounge area - the open plan set up creates a spacious feel - in the family room the side board, painted by Louisha at Stax in Annie Sloan Emperor's Silk and finished with dark wax takes centre stage. The picture above was framed by Caffee Gallerie in Plymouth.

Ambience is provided by Annie Sloan Provence fragrant candles and local St Evals candles on the coffee table.
