Welcome to Stax Reclamation
October 19, 2023
Many of us remember fondly the innocence of yesteryear and have happy memories of a simpler time when life was slower and community spirit was everything. Perhaps because of the fond memories they evoke, our retro signs are always popular and they fly out the door as soon as we source new ones.
Our reclaimed vintage enamel signs provide happy recollections of a beloved shop or a family favourite that no longer exists and can add a touch of nostalgia to that corner of your home or workplace that needs an injection of personality. Whatever the reason, we know that our vintage signs are a big hit with customers new and old, so we thought we'd showcase our newest additions!
We source vintage reclaimed signs from shops, pubs, fairgrounds, railways and more in this nostalgic collection. Our vintage signs are carefully curated from right here in Plymouth and all across the UK, and we ensure that we pick the very best for our loyal customers. Our stock is always rotating so keep your eyes peeled for new additions to our retro sign collection both in-store and online. Which is your favourite?
Lidstone Billing Vintage Enamel Sign
This enamel advertising sign is emblazoned with the bill-poster and advertising agent “Lidstone Billing Co.Ltd” from its offices in Plymouth's Octagon. It's a brilliant slice of Plymouth history and is a real statement piece in golden yellow and pillar box red.
Spratts Chikko Chick Food Vintage Sign
An original vintage enamel advertising sign for Spratts Chikko Chick food. A wonderful, striking piece featuring some fantastic typography and punchy colours. It would make a real talking point used in your business premises and really brighten up a corner of your living room or kitchen.
Original Royal Standard BP Lamp Oil Enamel Sign
In Victorian times, every home would have had several lamps and a good supply of lamp oil to keep them going. Our sign was made by Bruton of Palmers Green, London. The design is striking, likening the power of BP’s Lamp Oil to sunshine with the quarter-yellow sun and light beaming down. A beautiful addition to any living or workspace.
Beechwood Devonshire Foods Enamel Sign
Beechwood Food Products was a local company that produced fine Devonshire bacon and hams - it's likely that this sign is from around 1921 when they took over a factory in Plymouth, but we don't know for sure. What we do know is that this glossy, striking vintage enamel sign will be a stunning piece for a collector or anyone interested in local Devon history.
Vintage Enamel Persil Advertising Sign
In 1903, Professor Herman Giessler and Dr Herman Bauer from Stuttgart produced the world's first soap powder with a bleaching agent – Persil. This vintage enamel sign by Persil with the iconic white lady depicts the classic advertising image that was first seen around 1925. This original sign perhaps originates from the same time and is in great condition despite its age.
Motor Mex Spirit Sign
A circa 1920’s ‘Mex Motor Spirit’ (later becoming Shell-Mex) enamel advertising sign with red and white graphics. This vintage sign likely came from the showroom of a Shell garage and is in great condition for its age. Makes a great addition to a quirky boys' bedroom design, or perhaps for your own motoring business showroom.
Guinness is Good for You Hanging Advertising Clock
